Yokogawa Electric, a global leader in industrial automation, has launched the VY Series vortex flowmeter under its OpreX field instrument portfolio. Inheriting the mature sensing structure and long-term stability of the classic YEWFLO series, the VY Series brings digital upgrades to satisfy modern demands for condition-based maintenance (CBM) and plant digital transformation.
The VY series measures liquid, gas, saturated and superheated steam. Its dual-sensor design and proprietary SSP digital signal processing effectively filter pipe vibration interference to guarantee steady measurement, even in harsh industrial environments. The vortex shedding body can be disassembled independently without removing the whole meter from piping, cutting downtime during cleaning or component replacement. Optional built-in Pt1000 temperature sensors enable real-time temperature acquisition, supporting mass flow and energy calculation for steam and process fluids.
The product family covers versatile configurations: general type, built-in temperature sensor type, high-temperature / cryogenic type, reduced-bore type, high-pressure type and dual-sensor high-reliability variant. Sizes range from DN15 to DN400, with process temperature spanning -196°C to 450°C. Compliant with SIL2 functional safety, IECEx / ATEX explosion protection, NACE, PED and major marine certifications including DNV and ABS, it adapts to chemical, energy, utility and cryogenic working conditions. HART7, FOUNDATION Fieldbus and Modbus RTU communication options are available for seamless integration into distributed control systems.
